Refugees and other immigrants arriving in the U.S. come with a wide variety of educational and linguistic backgrounds, but all share the desire to integrate and thrive in their new home.

Learning English - a gateway to life in the U.S. - is a critical part of this journey. Without basic English language skills, newly arrived refugees and other immigrants are unable to access the resources and services that help them navigate daily life in the US. Economic opportunities are also drastically limited, creating a significant barrier to flourishing in their new country.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

A High-Quality Learning Experience

At World Relief, we’re working to change this reality.

We believe every immigrant should have access to a high-quality, professional place to learn English. With over 30 years of experience educating tens of thousands of adult students across the nation, our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes provide immigrants with the language skills, community connections, and independence they need to flourish and succeed in the U.S.

What We Offer at the Connect Language Center

The Connect Language Center builds belonging by creating community spaces in quality ESL programming, teacher training, and cross-cultural education opportunities.

With the help of our certified teachers, students will gain the English level necessary to begin rebuilding their lives in the U.S., and they can do so through in-person or online classes that last two to three hours according to their skills. When needed, personal tutoring is available as well.

In addition to learning English, however, the students also gain a sense of community and belonging. At the end of the day, students are able to more successfully navigate day-to-day life in the United States and access opportunities to better the lives of themselves and their families. Yet perhaps more importantly, they walk away feeling empowered.
