Helping Our Afghan Allies

welcoming and advocating for those in greatest danger

Today, there are over 100 million people around the globe who have been forced, or made the painful choice, to leave their home. After years of fleeing violence, famine and extreme poverty, their greatest hope is that they’ll find a safe place to rebuild their lives and call home.

Sadly, this hope remains unattainable for many of our immigrant neighbors who feel marginalized, lonely, and afraid. Rather than finding opportunities to flourish, many are losing hope as they struggle to overcome unexpected vulnerabilities and systemic barriers to integration.

You Can Help Make a Difference

At World Relief, we’ve welcomed, advocated alongside, and supported over 400,000 immigrants in vulnerable situations as they choose how to integrate into communities all across the nation.

And we’ve done so with the help of bold and compassionate neighbors just like you.

Give

When you give today, you join us in working for justice, equity, healing and restoration for millions of individuals suffering and experiencing oppression around the globe.

With your help, we can continue helping immigrants in vulnerable situations in the United States find hope and rebuild their lives, creating communities of love and welcome that we all feel proud to be a part of.

Here’s how we do it:

Provide
Provide vital services

We provide newly arrived refugees and other immigrants with access to basic necessities and begin them on the journey to belonging through English classes, immigration legal services, employment services, and more.

Build
Build just and welcoming communities

We equip churches and community members with the information they need to educate, advocate and take action on behalf of our immigrant neighbors. We work to change systems and resulting injustices that marginalize refugees and other immigrants in the U.S.

People
Bring people together

We connect newcomers to individuals, groups, and faith communities to foster transformative relationships, where both new and long-term community members flourish and find a sense of unity and belonging.

“More than an immigrant support organization, World Relief and its partners make us feel like we are part of a group of friends. They are a blessing from God to our family. May God bless the gift of your service so that you can continue to be a blessing for other immigrants. Thank you!”

Systems Change in Seattle

As World Relief Seattle’s Executive Director and an immigrant myself, I have seen the razor-thin line between security and insecurity that many immigrants experience. Never was this more clear to me than this year, as our office rallied to serve those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic wore on last year, we…

Grieving through service

The following reflection was written by World Relief Seattle intern, Katherine Abdallah. Katherine joined the team at World Relief during the pandemic, and spent her time assisting the Resettlement Team by scheduling appointments, helping tutor English, building study tools for the citizenship test, and otherwise assisting with the resettlement process under extraordinary circumstances. “If you…

A growing family

The following is a reflection written by Liz Hadley, Employment Specialist at World Relief Seattle. Pulling up to the McGlashan’s house, it seems as though you’re looking at the perfect retirement set up: a lovely house set on a quiet suburban street with two massive golden retrievers bounding out the front door. Their home appears to…
